Introducción y objetivos: Este estudio busca describir el fenotipo de la población sometida a cirugía cardiaca en el Instituto de medicina altamente especializado del Hospital de Clínicas “Dr. Manuel Quintela”, con el objetivo de conocer las variables relevantes en el pre, intra y posoperatorio, interpretar como se relacionan entre ellas, buscando identificar factores de riesgo que nos ayuden a mejorar los resultados obtenidos. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio observacional prospectivo descriptivo, con análisis univariados y bivariados trabajando con frecuencias absolutas y relativas. Las variables que se valoraron son las preoperatorias, intraoperatorias y postoperatoria de cirugía de revascularización miocárdica y sustitución valvular. Resultados: Se incluyó un total de n=33 pacientes, de los cuales 36,4% correspondió al sexo femenino y 63,6% al sexo masculino. La revascularización miocárdica fue el procedimiento quirúrgico más frecuente con un 72,7%, la sustitución valvular representó el 27,3% restante. En el posoperatorio la insuficiencia renal aguda se presentó en el 27,3% de los casos y el sangrado aumentado en 12,1%. En los pacientes que presentaron circulación extracorpórea prolongada, el 41.7% presentó insuficiencia renal aguda y el 9.1% presentó sangrado aumentado. El promedio de días de estadía en el posoperatorio fue de 12 ± 7.3 días. En cuanto a la mortalidad esta fue del 3%. Conclusiones: No obtuvimos diferencias estadísticamente significativas en ninguna asociación de variables, pero fue un trabajo que nos ayudó a conocer más la población de cirugía cardiaca en el Hospital de Clínicas, partiendo de estos datos en futuros trabajos podríamos llegar a mayores y mejores conclusiones.

Introduction and objectives: The present research aims to describe the population that undergoes cardiac surgery at Hospital de Clínicas “Dr. Manuel Quintela” ´s highly specialized medicine institute, the main objective is to identify the most relevant variables of the pre, intra and postoperative in order to understand how these are related and recognize risk factors so as to help us improve the center´s future results. Methods: We carried out a descriptive, prospective observational study with univariate and bivariate analysis, working with absolute and relative frequencies. The included variables were the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative ones regarding coronary artery bypass graft and valve replacement. Results: a total of n=33 patients were included, of which 36,4% were females and 63,6% were males. Coronary artery bypass was the most frecuent procedure performed corresponding to a 72,7%, on the other hand valve replacement represented a 27,3%. In the postoperative a 27,3% of the cases presented acute kidney injury and 12,1% increased bleeding. Among the group who presented prolonged extracorporeal circulation 41,7% presented AKI and 9,1% increased bleeding. The average stay in postoperative was of 12 ± 7,3 days. Regarding mortality, this was of 3%. Conclusions: We did not obtain statistically significant results in any of the variables, nevertheless, this study helped us in getting to know better the population who undergoes cardiac surgery at Hospital de Clínicas. It is a strong possibility that these results are going to be used in upcoming research, with better results and conclusions.
