El presente trabajo tiene como principal objetivo estudiar el impacto del nivel de alfabetización en salud sobre la adherencia al tratamiento y los resultados obtenidos en pacientes hemato-oncológicos tratados en el Hospital de Clínicas. Para ello se elaboró un estudio observacional transversal a través del cuestionario HLQ (Health Literacy Questionaire) desarrollado por la Universidad de Swinburn, Australia. La aplicación de dicho cuestionario conjuntamente con la evaluación de datos clínicos de los pacientes nos permitió cumplir con el objetivo principal de este estudio que fue evaluar el lugar que tiene la alfabetización en salud en el proceso de tratamiento de los pacientes hemato-oncológicos del Hospital de Clínicas. En base a los resultados obtenidos de esta investigación se proponen nuevas acciones dirigidas a mejorar el nivel de alfabetización en salud de la población de estudio, generando la posibilidad de ampliar la discusión sobre el tema estudiado, no solo dirigido a profesionales de la salud sino también a estudiantes de Medicina.

The main objective of this work was to study the impact of the level of health literacy on adherence to treatment and the results obtained in hemato-oncological patients treated at the Hospital de Clínicas. A cross-sectional observational study was developed through the application of the HLQ (Health Literacy Questionnaire) from the University of Swinburn, Australia. The application of this questionnaire together with the evaluation of clinical data of the patients allowed us to meet the main objective of this study which was to evaluate the role of health literacy in the treatment process of hemato oncology patients at the Hospital de Clínicas. Based on the results obtained from this research, we postulate new actions to improve health literacy in this population, to expanding the discussion on this topic, not only among health professionals but also in medical students.
