El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar cómo la relación entre entrenador (también conocido como “entrenador técnico” o simplemente como “técnico”) y jugador incide en la construcción de la subjetividad, la identidad y la motivación de los jóvenes que integran las categorías formativas de básquetbol en Uruguay. Desde un enfoque psico-social, se abordará cómo estas interacciones, cargadas de significados afectivos, normativos y simbólicos, pueden influir profundamente en el desarrollo personal de los deportistas durante su etapa formativa. Desde esta perspectiva, y reconociendo el carácter profundamente social del deporte, este trabajo se sitúa en la intersección entre lo didáctico, lo emocional y lo identitario, buscando aportar herramientas para repensar el rol del entrenador más allá de su función técnica, añadiendo el carácter estructurante que deja huellas en la subjetividad de los jugadores. El análisis se basará en un marco teórico que integra aportes sobre subjetividad, identidad y motivación, a partir de las contribuciones de autores como Michel Foucault, Cornelius Castoriadis, Stuart Hall, Edward Deci y Richard Ryan, entre otros. También se tendrán en cuenta documentos oficiales del deporte nacional y estudios que abordan la función educativa del deporte.

This paper aims to analyze how the relationship between coach and player influences the construction of subjectivity, identity, and motivation among young athletes participating in formative basketball categories in Uruguay. From a psychosocial perspective, it will explore how these interactions, imbued with affective, normative, and symbolic meanings, can profoundly impact the personal development of athletes during their formative stage. From this standpoint, and recognizing the deeply social nature of sport, the work situates itself at the intersection of the didactic, the emotional, and the identity-related, seeking to provide tools to rethink the coach’s role beyond its technical function, emphasizing the structuring quality that leaves lasting traces in the players’ subjectivity. The analysis will draw upon a theoretical framework that integrates contributions on subjectivity, identity, and motivation from authors such as Michel Foucault, Cornelius Castoriadis, Stuart Hall, Edward Deci, and Richard Ryan, among others. Official documents on national sports policy and studies addressing the educational function of sport will also be considered.
