Resumen:
El cuartel de San Ramón estuvo a cargo del Grupo de Artillería no. 4 (GrA4) entre 1945 y 1985. Dicha unidad jugó un papel fundamental en la organización represiva de Montevideo y Canelones a partir de 1968, al haber tenido un lugar de importancia dentro de la División del Ejército I, que se desempeñó en forma conjunta con la Jefatura de Policía de Canelones (JPC). A partir de testimonios se han identificado centenares de personas detenidas en GrA4. Sin embargo, hay poco estudiado, no se sabe quiénes ni cuántos fueron. En el marco de la reciente declaración de Sitio de Memoria Uruguay del cuartel de San Ramón, en 2023, se inició un estudio de las fichas de seguimiento y detenidos en dicho cuartel. Este artículo describe el proceso de creación de una base de datos y la información obtenida a partir de los ficheros de la JPC, microfilmados en 1986 y 1987.
The San Ramón Barracks was under the command of Artillery Group no. 4 (GrA4) between 1945 and 1985. This unit played a fundamental role in the repressive organization of Montevideo and Canelones from 1968 onward, holding an important position within the 1st Army Division, which operated jointly with the Canelones Police Headquarters (JPC). Hundreds of people detained at GrA4 have been identified through testimonies. However, little research has been conducted; their identities and numbers remain unknown. Following the recent declaration of the San Ramón Barracks as a Site of Memory in 2023, a study of the records of detainees and those held at the barracks was initiated. This article describes the process of creating a database and the information obtained from the Canelones Police Headquarters files, which were microfilmed in 1986 and 1987.
