Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease characterized by low bone mass and microarchitectural deterioration, with the consequent increase in bone fragility and susceptibility to fractures. It is a disease that is underdiagnosed, this is due to the fact that sufficient importance is not given to prevention and care of modifiable risk factors. The objective is to determine the risk of presenting osteoporosis and fracture in outpatients of the polyclinics of the east wing of the Hospital de Clínicas, establish which risk factors are present, calculate the risk of fractures in the next 10 years and to provide tools and information with the objective of creating awareness awareness and prevention. The methodology will be through surveys, using "1 minute test", which was created and validated by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) to know what risk factors the subject presents and then, these data will be processed in the risk calculator of fragility fractures (FRAX) to calculate the risk of fracture in the next 10 years. Therefore, the study design is observational, descriptive and cross-sectional. Regarding the results, the total population studied presented at least one risk factor for osteoporosis, the ones that were seen most frequently were female sex, low sun exposure and sedentary lifestyle. Of the 150 participants, 13% had a high risk of major osteoporotic fracture and 33% a high risk of hip fracture at 10 years.Of the total participants, 62.7% were women, the mean age and BMI of the population was 63 ± 12.1 (mean ± standard deviation) and 27.7 ± 5.8 (mean ± standard deviation) respectively.
