Encefalopatía reversible del esplenio del cuerpo calloso (MERS). Reporte de un caso clínico
Reversible encephalopathy of the splenium of the corpus callosum (MERS). Report of a clinical case
Introduction: Mild encephalitis/encephalopathy with isolated reversible lesion of the splenium of the corpus callosum or MERS, for the acronym in English, is a benign entity that requires magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for its diagnosis. Clinical case: Young man, previously healthy, who presents with a generalized tonic–clonic crisis. Cranial tomography without alterations, MRI study that shows a restricted focus in the posterior sector of the corpus callosum, without hemorrhage or enhancement (reversible focal lesion of the corpus callosum). MERS type 1 is diagnosed, triggering causes are ruled out. MRI for control after 4 weeks without any alterations.
