A descriptive study was carried out with the objective of knowing and characterizing the population of the Pediatric Clínic “C” of the Pereira Rossell Hospital Center (CHPR) during July- September 2019. The vaccination status (systematic immunizations, and non systematic) of the population was investigated and also the level of adherence from the family nucleus for Influenza and Whooping cough. Regarding the results, we obtained that the 77% of pediatric patients had the Certificate of Vaccination (CEV) valid, 15% had a delayed certificate and an 8% was found incomplete. Meanwhile, vaccines against Influenza and Human Papillomavirus (HPV), 25% and 48% of adhesion was found, respectively. Among the reasons for non vaccination we found the following: respiratory infection, low birth weight, hospitalization, dose unavailability, closed polyclinic, lack of interest and rejection for vaccines. Concerning the research for causes that may influence vaccination , no significant association was found (p>0.05) between variables such as: age of the child, schooling, educational level of the parents, occupation or their place of origin with the CEV current status. In conclusion, we emphasize that we must improve vaccine coverage and develop strategies that improve the adherence level. Hospitalization is an instance that we must take advantage of to update the CEV status and advise the family about vaccines and their benefits, and break down the barriers they have against them.
