Service of Emergency of the Pasteur Hospitalin the tour years understood between April 1of 1993 and March 31 of 1997.The resu/ts were ana!yzed fundamental/y inwhich ít refer to the surgical activity of theresidents and the teaching of the surgery.We evidenced that a resident of surgeryformed in the Pasteur Hospital, operate lessthan 50 patients of urgency per year.We conc!uded that in spite of that it iscontinua!ly a tapie of discussion of theuruguayan congresses of surgery, it has notbeen the road in arder to increase andimprove the leve/ of practica/ teaching of theyoung surgeon.


Se presenta la experiencia acumulada en elServicio de Emergencia del Hospital Pasteuren los cuatro años comprendidos entre el 1de abril de 1993 y el 31 de marzo de 1997.Los resultados fueron analizadosfundamentalmente en lo que refiere a laactividad quirúrgica de los residentes y laenseñanza de la cirugía.Evidenciamos que un residente de cirugíaformado en el Hospital Pasteur, operapromedia/mente menos de 50 pacientes deurgencia por año.Concluimos que pese a que escontinuamente un tema de discusión de loscongresos uruguayos de cirugía, no se haencontrado el camino para incrementar ymejorar el nivel de formación práctica delcirujano joven.
