Melanoma maligno: Estudio estadístico en el Hospital de Clínicas

111 patients with Maiignant Melanoma, treated by the Oncological Unit of the Surgical Service "B" of the Hospital de Clínicas of Montevideo between 1964 and 1972 were studied. 61 were female and 50 male.Melanomas were rnost frequently seen among the 61-70 years old group. The most common place where melanoma has been found has been the leg ( 43 patients) especially in females ( 28 patients). Primary lesion without lymph nade metastases has been found in 53 patlents.Treatment of the primary was performed in 54 % of the cases outside of the Hospital. The rest have been submitted to wide excision of the primary, usually ( 3/51) without fascial resection.A lyrnph node regional dissection was performed in 40 cases, 27 as a therapeutical procedure and 13 as an elective one. Total percentage of patients with 5 year survival has been 29.4 %, Best results were obtained in fernale patients, withprimary lesion placed in the leg, without regional lymph nades.


111 pacientes portadores de melanoma maligno fueron estudiados entre 1964 y 1972 por el Equipo 0ncológico de la Clínica Quirúrgica "B", siendo 61 mujeres y 50 hombres. El grupo etario más frecuente fue entre 61 y 70 años; la topografía más común fue en : el Miembro inferior (43 pacientes), sobre todo en el sexo femenino (28 pacientes). Se encontró la lesión primaria sin difusión alguna en 53 pacientes. El tratamiento del primario fue hecho fuera del hospital en un 54 % de los casos. Los tratados por nuestro equipo recibieron una exéresis amplia del primario, en general, sin resección de la aponeurosis (3/51). En 40 pacientes se realizaron vaciamientos ganglionares-; 27 "curativos" y 13 "profilácticos". Se hicieron 20 perfusiones de citostáticos con circulación extracorpórea.La sobrevida total a 5 años fue del 29.4 %, siendo mejor en pacientes mujeres, con localización del primario en miembros inferiores y sin ganglios.
