The paper contains a retrospective analysis ofa series of 20 surgical acts in patients sufferingfrom Crohn's disease, performed by the authorsover a 13-year period.Cronh' disease is an inflamatory, granulomatose,transmural and pan digestive. The paper discussesthe result of complex interaction of geneticsusceptibility, enviroment and immunitary system.In this XXI Century it still remains as a diseasethat may be treated, but is incurable. Even thoughat the onset treatment is medical, 80% of patientsshall require at least one operation during its evolution.Resection is the elective surgery vis-á-vis aprimary or recurrent disease.


La Enfermedad de Crohn es una afección inflamatoria,granulomatosa, transmural y pandigestiva. Se considera el resultado de interacciones complejasentre susceptibilidad genética, medio ambientey sistema inmunitario.En pleno siglo XXI se mantiene como una afeccióntratable pero incurable. Si bien inicialmentees de tratamiento médico, un 80% de los pacientesrequerirán al menos una cirugía en su evolución.La resección es la operación de elección frente a laenfermedad primaria o recurrente.Se analiza en forma retrospectiva una serie de20 cirugías en pacientes con Enfermedad de Crohn,llevadas a cabo por los autores en un lapso de13 años.
