The paper contains- a study of the reasons for venous ligature in the treatment of pulmonary embolism, including its precise indications. The technique describedhas been employed in 16 cases with the results indicated in the paper. Ligature of the inferior vena cava is the easiest, quickest and safest method of preventing99 % of cases of pulmonary embolism. The feared post-operatory sequella are reduced to a minimum through adequate cure and in no way invalidate the efficiencyof a life saving operation. "Better a live patient with sorne ailments, than a patient dead as consequence of embolism of the vena cava without ligature".
Se estudian las bases que fundamentan las ligaduras venosas en el T.E.P. y se detallan las indicaciones precisas .. Se expone la técnica utilizada en 16 casos y los ressultadosobtenidos. La ligadura de la vena cava inferior es el medio más fácil, rápido y seguro para prevenir el 99 % de los casos de embolia pulmonar. Las temidas secuelas postoperatorias se reducen al mínimo con cuidados adecuados y no invalidan la alta eficacia de una. operación salvavidas.
