Vesico-ureteral reflux surgery in children: Results of the Cohen technique. Preliminary communication

Resumen:
Case material consisted of 35 children suffering fromvesicoureteral reflux. 23 were treated surgically using Cohen's recently developed technique of ureteral "advance".It was applied in 36 hemisystems (including 3 duplicities: 39 ureteres) with 97,3 % good results, not with standing the fact that they were advanced cases with signs of renal lesion in 58 %.There follows a brief physiopathologic review and the conclusion that an earlier diagnosis of this condition is required.
En un grupo de 35 ntños con reflujo vésico-ureteral, 23 se han intervenido quirúrgicamente con la técnica recientemente desarrollada de "avance" ureteral de Cohen. La misma fue aplicada en 36 hemisistemas (incluyendo 3 duplicidades: 39 uréteres) obteniendo el 97,3 % de buenos resultados, a pesar de tratarse de casos avanzados cou signos de lesión renal en el 58. % de los mismos.Se efectúa una breve reseña fisiopatológica y se insiste en la necesidad de un diagnóstico más temprano de la afección.
