In Uruguay casualties represent almost 5%of al/ deaths. Over 70 casualties per mil/ioninhabitants occur and these figures fol/ows an upwardtrend. Occupational accidents affect 30,000 workers/year and 500 of them remain with permanentseque/ae.

La muerte por accidente en el Uruguay representacasi el 5 % de todas las defunciones. Seproducen más de 70 muertes traumáticas por millónde habitantes y estas cifras van en aumento. Losaccidentes laborales afectan a más de 30.000 trabajadores/año y dejan 500 de ellos con secuelaspermanentes.
