Value of intraoperative consultation with the pathologist in differentiated carcinoma thyroid and its impact on the extent of the glandular resection
Valor de la consulta intraoperatoria con el patólogo en el carcinoma diferenciado del tiroides y su repercusión sobre la extensión de la resección glandular
Resumen:
The results of a series of 163 operated nodules which werestudied by intraoperative freezing is analysed. Thefollowing are emphasized: a sensitivity of 89.6%, aspecificity of 95.8%, 1.8% false negatives, 3% falsepositives and a reduction of extension of glandularresection in 51 %.
Se analizan los resultados de una serie de 163 nódulostiroideos operados y estudiados por congelaciónintraoperatoria destacándose una sensibilidad de 89.6%,una especificidad de 95. 8%, 1. 8% de falsos negativos, 3%de falsos positivos y una reducción en la extensión de laresección glandular en el 51 %.
