Authors study the clinical and anatomo-pathologicalcharacteristics, as well as the surgical procedure andits results, in a series of 150 epigastric hernias, with amínimum three-years follow up. lts predominance inmales and the high frequency of associated parietalpathology is pointed out. There are thus far a 4% of verifiedrecidivation. No conclusions could be drawn inrespect of the effectiveness of transversal repair of same.


Los autores estudian las características clínicas yanátomo-patológicas, así como el procedimientoquirúrgico y sus resultados, en una serie de 150 herniasepigástricas, con un seguimiento mínimo de 3años. Se destaca su predominio en el sexo masculino yla alta frecuencia de patología parietal asociada. Existehasta la fecha un 4% de recidivas detectadas. No sepudieron sacar conclusiones con respecto a las bondadesde la reparación transversal de las mismas.
