Resumen:
Sumario:Seismic isolation in essential buildings is an innovative technology that modifies the structural response by increasing damping and decreasing stiffness at the isolation interface of a structure. The article compared the results of a conventional structure with a fixed foundation and a decoupled structure in two parts: foundation and superstructure through an isolation interface, both subjected to a pseudo-acceleration equivalent to rare earthquakes. The determination of the mechanical properties of the devices was developed based on the mathematical foundations that relate mass, period and rigidity established by Skinner, Robinson and McVerry (1993), Naeim & Kelly (1999), Kelly & Konstantinidis (2011) and Constantinou. et. al, (2007). A conventional structure initially designed with an earthquake-resistant system in concrete frames and confined masonry, belonging to the I-3 Andrés Araujo Moran Health Center in the Tumbes Region, Peru, was considered. At the interface, high damping devices with lead core LRB (Lead Rubber Bearing) were proposed with a critical damping of 15% and an equivalent damping factor of β_M=1.35. In the results obtained, it can be seen that the period of the structure increased from T=0.47s to T=2.462s compared to the conventional structure. While in the drift it was reduced by 57.45% from δ=0.0047 to δ=0.0020, with which it is concluded that the structure is within the continuous functionality according to HAZUS (FEMA, 2020).
