Resumen:
Sumario:In this paper I took as an object of study the novel entitled La otra raya del tigre (1975) by Colombian writer Pedro Gómez Valderrama. This work, classified in the genre of Travel Literature, it is built up with the imaginaries from the Colonial Period, the characteristic narratives of travel journals from 18th and 19th centuries, classic literary topos, demystifying and naturalization of the wild (mountains, sea, caverns) promoted by The Enlightenment. In order to analyze the configuration of the places, I focused on two specific settings: Montebello and New Granada landscape. I used the notions of landscape and garden to study those settings, respectively. Analyzing these settings allows to comprehend the specific conditions of imaginary places and, besides, to notice the geographic dimension of the representation of a territory on literature (Geopoetis). Finally, I consider Montebello such as a locus amoenus. In the other hand, New Granada landscape is related to locus horridus. In La otra raya del tigre the aesthetics construction of landscape depends on three key procceses: contemplation, imagination and explorer’s journey.
