Resumen:
Sumario:This article examines the transformations of mediatizations and the conditions of circulation of meaning in the framework of Internet-based digital platforms. For that, we pay attention to a particular case study: that of fanification through the links among audiovisual works, interactions, discursive productions and practices on YouTube related to the consumption of Japanese mass culture. This work aims to put into dialogue the reflections on such changes associated with the expansion of the connective media and the algorithmic logics of social datafication, with special emphasis on the questions generated by fan studies – a field of incipient constitution in the Latin American academy. In the context of contemporary hypermediatized societies, we propose to review the extrapolation of certain postulates around “democracy” and “decentralization” of social networks for the analysis of uses that fans of Japanese cultural goods make of YouTube, usually conceptualized in terms of prosumers. Thus, this article contrasts the opportunities and limitations of the architecture of said platform for participation, its appropriations and the specific collective dynamics around one of the most popular YouTubers or content creators among the aforementioned fans.
