Sumario: | The Palacio de La Moneda is the seat of the presidency, executive power, and three ministries of Chile. It is constituted one of the main historical buildings in the country and the most important regarding its current representative function, as a government palace. Since its origin, it has been the protagonist of the historical-political and social-urban journey of the nation, facts that have been expressed in its architectural metamorphosis.Designed by the architect Joaquín Toesca and inaugurated in 1805 as the Real Casa de Moneda de Santiago. After independence in 1845, the seat of government was moved to the building, at which time the first important modification of its floor plan was established, with which a dynamic transformation and permanent adaptation began. In its category of architectural heritage, it is essential to understand it as cultural heritage referring to what it symbolizes, and as-built heritage in terms of historical property, its original and current value. |
