Resumen:
Sumario:In this paper we analyse the different versions of Mauricio Macri’s testimony about the kidnapping he had suffered in 1991. By adopting Discourse Analysis we study a corpus consisting of a series of utterances that the former Argentinian president Macri (2015-2019) gave during the 2015 election campaign, in which he told his own traumatic experience. We expect to contribute to understanding the “traumatic memory” as an expression of the candidates’ biographical spaces and, especially in Macri’s speeches, as a strategy that tends to build personality and leadership during the campaign. Through a case study, we try to answer the following questions: what makes a candidate telling their own traumatic event? Why and what for they dare go public with such an intimate and painful experience? We will think about the role these stories have played within the Argentinian candidate strategies of personalization and humanization.
