Resumen:
Sumario:Objective: Assess the body composition of young professional soccer players of the First Division of an Uruguayan Football team, and relate it with the anthropometric playing position data base of the Argentinean players between 2002-2009.Methodology: The sample selected for convenience, consisted of 31 professional players from the Third and Fourth Division, from 17 to 20 years, in Montevideo, Uruguay. 25 measurements were performed in duplicate, on the right side of thesubjects who took part in the study, according to the criteria established by the ISAK (International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry)Results: The results showed that the goalkeeper was who had higher height (185,4cm±4,4), weight (83,8Kg±5,4) and fat fraction (59,6mm±13,0). Although the study population is within the range set by references in all positions could be detected less muscular development because the player that where studyhaven’t finished their biological development. Conclusions: Is not striking that teenage footballers have less muscle development, however, these values should be taken with caution, as it may be related to nutritional factors and /or training. Through a nutritional intervention could promote changes in body composition, to contribute to improved athleticperformance.
