Resumen:
Sumario:Abstract. This article’s objective is to suggest some possible interpretations in with regard to the relationship between the disposition towards science of 15-year-old students and the level of human development reached by the country. This concern is motivated by a theory that states that the development level of a country is related with its investment in science and technology and this latter with the existence of a critical mass of scientists and technologists who are the result of young people motivated to study scientific and technological careers. An alternative hypothesis is that primary and medium education create] more opportunities in the scientific and technological fields than the following structures (higher] education and more innovative parts of the economy) can incorporate. The adjustment between disposition towards science and jobs is mediated by the level of scientific competence required. We explore the reasonable causal chain with data provided by PISA 2006.
