Born in Uruguay, Caetano is one of the most iconic directors of the New Argentine Cinema. This article focuses on three of his most important films: Bolivia (2001), Un oso rojo (A Red Bear, 2002) and Crónica de una fuga (Chronicle of an Escape, 2006). In all of these movies, violence is central to the plot and shapes the narrative forms in different ways. In Caetano's cinema, community is always threatened by the menace of dissolution. Violence flourishes as a consequence of this permanent threat, and it functions as a force that restores the social barriers weakened by the collective crisis. |
dc.description.es-ES.fl_txt_mv | El objetivo de este trabajo es dar cuenta de los modos de representación de la violencia en el cine de Adrián Caetano, director nacido en Uruguay y uno de los representantes más emblemáticos del denominado Nuevo Cine Argentino. Para eso, nos proponemos trazar una lectura crítica de tres de sus películas más importantes: Bolivia (2001), Un oso rojo (2002) y Crónica de una fuga (2006). En dichas obras, el fenómeno de la violencia constituye el núcleo de la trama y permea las formas narrativas, aunque de maneras diferentes en cada largometraje. En el cine de Caetano la comunidad siempre está amenazada por el fantasma de la disolución; en medio de ese peligro prolifera la violencia, entendida como una fuerza capaz de restituir las fronteras sociales que la crisis ha vuelto endebles. |
