Resumen:
Sumario:The aim of this article is to highlight the critical, divulgative and academic studies dedicated to the work of Argentinian filmmaker Jorge Prelorán, from the sixties to the present, to analyze its relevance in the context of ethnographic cinema, as well as the particularities of his approach and representation of popular subjects. From the review of these studies, and from the analysis that has been made on Prelorán’s filmography, some assertions that place him as a "hard to classify" filmmaker or a "solitary voice" (Mahieu, 1974) are questioned. Although these perceptions were common in the cinema studies made in Argentina, the work of Prelorán —attached to the stream of ethnographic cinema— has been widely studied and recognized abroad.
