Resumen:
Sumario:This study aimed to understand the transition from conjugality to late coparenting in dual career-couples. Five heterosexual couples in which women got pregnant after aging 35 years old, displaying professional activities, and having a firstborn child aged up to one year old participated in the study. Exclusion criterion was participants who have undergone any type of fertilization treatment. Instruments were a sociodemographic questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. The results point out changes in marital and coparenting relations. Fathers demonstrated to be collaborative throughout gestation period and mainly after child’s birth, splitting care tasks with their wives, as well as home tasks, which were reflected in high levels of coparenting agreements articulated with good marital quality. Although the investigated couples demonstrated high workloads, the majority of them seemed satisfied about their jobs due to employment flexibility, thus parents were able to conciliate their career with parenting.
