Meanings of School Experience in High Schools: Perceptions of Students in Four Argentine Jurisdictions.

dc.description.en-US.fl_txt_mv | Abstract. This article tries to disentangle the meanings assigned to school experience, in context of the contemporary changes. Given several studies that diagnose the secondary school crisis, we tried to open the range of meanings that arise from the students’ words, interviewed in four Argentine jurisdictions. From their expressions it ispossible to identify shared senses of their school stage that prevail over the differences.In contrast with the expected results, not only there appear senses common to schools but they refer mostly to the historic and more traditional ones. Together with them, «hybrid» meanings appear in the students’ answers that put in dialogue the traditional school functions with the current processes of change. Furthermore, we identified «emerging» meanings that suppose a breaking point with the historic mandates and constitute relevant keys to think about the eaning of school in the present. |
dc.description.es-ES.fl_txt_mv | Resumen. Este artículo se propone desentramar los sentidos atribuidos a la experiencia escolar en el marco de los procesos contemporáneos. Frente a diversos estudios que diagnostican la crisis de la escuela secundaria, nos propusimos abrir el abanico de significaciones que surge de la palabra de los estudiantes en cuatro jurisdicciones argentinas. A partir de sus relatos, es posible identificar sentidos compartidos de su paso por la escuela que predominan frente las discontinuidades. A diferencia de lo esperado, no sóloaparecen sentidos comunes a las escuelas sino que ellos remiten predominantemente a los históricos más tradicionales que conviven, en las respuestas de los estudiantes, con sentidos «híbridos» que ponen en diálogo las funciones tradicionales de la escuela con los procesos de cambio actuales.Asimismo, fue posible identificar sentidos que hemos denominado «emergentes» en tanto plantean rupturas con los mandatos históricos y constituyen claves relevantes para pensar el sentido de la escuela en el presente. |
