Resumen:
Sumario:In addition to technical knowledge, professional acting requires personal and social skills. The present work aimed to compare the social skills repertoire of college students on the beginning and at the end of the Psychology and Nursing courses in a brazillian public institution. 139 college students answered an initial questionnaire and the Social Skills Inventory - IHS-Del-Prette. The results indicated correlation between the time on the course and the amount of academic activities and specific factors. Nursing students presented higher social skills than Psychology students. Students who participated in academic activities, students who had already enrolled in other courses and women had higher specific social skills. We concluded that experiences such as practical courses activities, other courses admission and academic activities participation, as well as gender roles, can affect the social skills development.
