Sumario: | Objectives: To analyze pregnant women’s knowledge on family planning; and to identify how partners’ participation is given in family planning.Methodo: Descriptive exploratory research, carried out between 2007 and 2008, in the district of Baleia – Itapipoca – Ceará, with 46 pregnant women, being that, only 33 accepted to participate in the study, after they signed the Open and Explained Consent Term – OECT, according to approval by the Ethics and Research Committee – ERC under decision 568/2008. The data collection techniques used were a structured interview and form, with both being systematisized and analyzed based on tables and categories. Results: 100% knew of methods such as the pill and the condom; participation from partner was a reality in 70% of the cases. Conclusion: Despite family planning having been part of a Brazilian governmental policy for decades, reality shows little knowledge in the communities on its purpose, together with a limited offer of methods; necessary for it to become universal. |
