| Sumario: | This text examines some of the constituent elements of the poetics of Belgian director Agnès Varda. The hypothesis is that in her non-fiction works, the director establishes a series of ethical parameters that allow for a poetic-ethical discourse, as well as a political practice. To carry out this analysis, the undisciplined practice of visual studies is employed, and three conceptual axes are proposed to comprehend the diverse articulations of meaning in the analyzed works. These axes are: gaze, framing, and affect. Finally, the text concludes with a recapitulation of the elements that constitute the aesthetic power of the director's works, rooted in the notion of encountering the other as the starting point of her poetic-ethical approach. |
