Resumen:
Sumario:A significant number of students get access to the Faculty of Industrial Engineering of the Technological University of Havana. It produces a volume of data that can be analyzed in order to manage the educational process intentionally. In this study, descriptive statistics techniques are used to extract useful and relevant information from the educational data recorded during the process of professional training. The objective of this work is to analyze information obtained from the first-year students enrolled in the academic courses between 2012 and 2017 to improve their academic performance. The analysis of a set of data to study possible associations shows a reduction of academic efficiency. Technical and software statistical packages were used to process available data. The results obtained point out the significant impact of some admission processes parameters over first year student academic success.
