Resumen:
Sumario:In this article, we analyze the approaches of digital media regarding the socio-sanitary needs and demands of communities residing in rural, remote, and neglected areas of Santiago del Estero, Argentina. Employing a qualitative design and a theoretical perspective that links health communication with critical health thinking, we build a corpus of 27 news articles published between 2016 and 2023, which we classify into three dimensions and analyze their content. The results allow us to identify actions of resistance and organization in the absence of institutional socio-sanitary responses, particularly in response to the health effects of pesticide exposure and disciplines related to sexual and (non) reproductive health. We conclude that the construction of journalistic narratives reflects processes of subalternization, resistance, and disputes of meanings regarding the positions of different social actors. Through these records, we highlight how the media bring socio-sanitary issues of vulnerable communities to the forefront of public awareness.
