Resumen:

The market of electric materials covers a wide range of devices, such as light switches, dimmers and motion based presence detectors. As these devices have traditionally been analog, their internal circuit varies greatly, making the development of each electric device a completely separate process. A similar problem occurs with manufacturing. This is precisely the problem faced by BQN, a technology company currently diversifying its developments. Electric materials is one of their areas of interest. They currently manufacture a line of dimmers and a presence detector, but they want to develop several more devices. In this work, a microcontroller based high voltage platform to serve as blueprint for most electric materials is presented. It was conceived as a modular platform with a microcontroller at its core. Each module has an specific purpose and can be changed independently from other modules if the application demands it. This platform was designed and developed alongside a first model of a dimmer and later adjusted to work on a second model. This work also presents an early design of the platform’s modules needed to adapt it to function as a presence detector.
