En este artículo desarrollaré algunas reflexiones sobre cuestiones vinculadas al cuerpo, lasviolencias sobre éste y una institución como la cárcel; se toma como central el trabajo de camporealizado para “La pasión, las heridas, las penas. Género, sexualidad y cuerpo en el CentroMetropolitano de Rehabilitación Femenino”1, y una experiencia personal de trabajo con y sobrecárceles de mujeres de más de 10 años.Las preguntas que guían las reflexiones actuales basadas en discusiones y análisis grupales desdelo interdisciplinario, donde se han unido pensamientos desde la antropología, la historia, lapsicología, el derecho, las ciencias políticas, sobre lo carcelario son: ¿estos cuerpos importanefectivamente tan poco? ¿O importan demasiado? ¿De qué formas y según qué punto de vistatienen o no importancia? ¿El centramiento en el cuerpo, -lo único que parece tenerse cuando seestá privada de libertad- está vinculado a lo insoportable de esa condición, la de no poder ir ohacer lo que se quiere, lo que se necesita, lo que necesitan los otros (generalmente quienes estánafuera)? ¿Existen diferencias en los discursos de quienes se autoidentifican como varones yquienes como mujeres en la percepción y presentación sobre el cuerpo, las marcas y lasviolencias asociadas?

In this article I will develop some reflections on issues related to the body, violence against it in an institution such as prison; taken as central the fieldwork done for "Passion, wounds, sorrows. Gender, sexuality and body in the Metropolitan Center for Female Rehabilitation"2, and a personal experience of working for over ten years with and about prisons of women. The inquiries that guide the current reflections based on discussions and group analysis from the interdisciplinary, where thoughts have been joined from anthropology, history, psychology, law and political science about the prisons are: do these bodies matter in any way? Or do they matter too much? In what ways and according to what point of view do they matter or not? The focus onthe body -the only thing that we seem to have when we are deprived of freedom-, is it linked to the unbearable of this condition? That of losing the freedom to move or do what you want, what is needed, what the others (usually those outside) need? Are differences in the speaches of those who self-identify as men and as women in the perception and presentation of the body, the wounds and associated violence?
