This research addresses two autobiographical stories from authors of German origin exiled in Uruguay: Patria en el exilio. Exilio en la patria. Recuerdos de Europa y Latinoamérica ([2003] 2011), by Ernesto Kroch (1917-2012) and ¡Como el Uruguay no hay! (no hay cómo llegar)... ([2011] 2018), by Günther Drexler (1935). They narrate confinement, persecution and forced moves experiences that had Uruguay as a country of destination and departure in a context of State terrorism during the Third Reich Germany (1933-1945) and the Uruguayan civic-military dictatorship (1973-1985). The desire for history not to repeat itself is shared by Holocaust survivors and prompted many to venture into writing to share their testimonies keeping a live memory. Several autobiographies, that make up the so-called Literature of the Shoah, were published in Uruguay by those who adopted the country as their new homeland. Among these, Drexler and Kroch, who already had authorship of different texts genres. In the corpus books, they give an account of the migration policies that promoted closure of borders, forcing them to enter the country in clandestinity, the characteristics of Uruguayan society that had the greatest impact on them, and their adaptation process. But the most outstanding aspect is that they mention the dictatorship and make associations with what happened in Nazi Germany. They never cease to bear witness to that dark period of the country that pushed them into a new exile, forcing them to face ghosts of the past. This thesis shows points of connection between these two stories and the particularities that differentiate them from the type of narration usually found in autobiographies of Nazi victims exiled in Uruguay. Constant jumps in time, incorporation of fictions and the unusual moments choice from which to begin the narrative, are some of the peculiarities presented by these authors, wrapped by a constant rumination before traumas memory.
