Esophageal cancer is a very challenging pathology for the surgeon and for the entire treating team. It is a disease aggressive disease, which is generally still diagnosed in advanced stages in our environment, and which requires curation of a complex multidisciplinary strategy. Surgery plays a fundamental role in the curative intention of this disease, but it is very demanding from a technical point of view for the surgical team. Historically, overall survival after esophageal cancer diagnosis is very low, in the order of 10 to 13% at 5 years 1. Such is the case that, in Chinese literature, the patient with esophageal cancer was formerly described as who "suffers in autumn, and does not see the arrival of summer".
